MYTON HOSPICE SET TO COIN-IN ON STONELEIGH PARK CHARITY CHALLENGE

Stoneleigh Park is this week undertaking a charity challenge to create a line of pound coins across the floor of its prestigious ‘Grand Ring’, in a bid to raise £3,500 for Myton Hospice.

The general public can take part in the ambitious feat on Wednesday 25th April – Friday 27th April (11.30am-2.30am), by simply laying as little as a pound coin in The Grand Ring at Stoneleigh Park or by pledging their support on the venue’s Virgin Money Giving page.

The charity attempt is part of Stoneleigh Park’s Myton Hospice ‘Take 50 Challenge’ which requires Stoneleigh Park to turn £50 in to as much money as possible - in just 50 days.

The Myton Hospices in Warwick, Rugby and Coventry provide in-patient and day care to local people who are living with a life-limiting illness or are nearing the end of their lives. All care is provided free of change and relies completely on public support, with the money raised by Stoneleigh Park enhancing vital facilities and services ranging from paying for an in-patient bed to funding a specially prepared patient meal.

Ian Pegler, chief executive for Stoneleigh Park, commented: “Myton Hospice is very dear to our hearts and so we’re looking forward to hopefully meeting the target of laying 3,500 pound coins across The Grand Ring.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has already supported our Take 50 Challenge and those who can pledge further support by donating as little as £1 to help us achieve our ambitious charity goal.”

Stoneleigh Park Catering Boosted by New Managerial Appointment

Major events and conference venue Stoneleigh Park has strengthened its successful catering team with a newly appointed Catering Manager.

Sue Hargreaves will head up the team which delivers a quality catering service for up to 25,000 delegates and visitors across all events at the 800-acre site in Warwickshire. Stoneleigh Park hosts conferences for some of the UK’s biggest blue chip companies as well as popular consumer events such as Your Horse Live and Race Retro

Sue will work with suppliers, chefs, and front of house staff to oversee all of the park’s bespoke catering service, including the successful Oak Tree Café, a permanent catering facility for visitors and those working on the park and Strollers Restaurant which provides a relaxed dining space for event and conference attendees.

Sue’s catering experience ranges from managing three independent cafes and a brassiere in Royal Leamington Spa to overseeing all match day and non-match day catering for Lindley Catering, the contract caterers based at Leicester Tigers Rugby Club. Sue has also been in charge of catering at three TUC and two Labour party conferences whilst working at Brighton Centre as General Manager of Kudos Hospitality.

Sue said: “With Stoneleigh Park staging some of the UK’s biggest conferences, exhibitions and events, I’m really looking forward to the opportunities and challenges that I’ll experience here. There is a fantastic team working on the site already, and my aim is for us to continue to consistently serve food of the highest quality. I want visitors and delegates to leave the site talking about the great food that was served or the waiting staff who went out of their way to ensure the dining experience was perfect.

“As part of my plan here at Stoneleigh Park, I want to implement new management and logistics systems and introduce a standard operating procedure as I believe that the key to success is detailed planning and communication with the rest of the team to ensure consistency.”

ALPACA SPRING EXTRAVAGANZA SET TO WOW FAMILIES AT STONELEIGH PARK

Herds of animal lovers are in for a treat on the 28th - 29th April as Stoneleigh Park hosts its annual Spring Alpaca Fiesta 2012 – one of the biggest alpaca shows of the year.

Similar in appearance to the llama and one of Peru’s most beautiful creatures, the alpaca is a hugely popular family attraction and a massive hit with children of all ages.

Free to attend and with free parking on site, the Spring Alpaca Fiesta provides an affordable opportunity for the family to learn more and get close to the different breeds of alpaca in the 800 acres of picturesque Warwickshire countryside which makes Stoneleigh Park the perfect venue for this type of event. Visitors can expect to see around 300 alpacas, with both the popular fluffy ‘Huayaca’ and rarer ‘Suri’ breeds likely to be on show.

This year’s show is run by the Heart of England Alpaca Group on behalf of the British Alpaca Society (BAS) which is dedicated to the welfare of alpacas and the education of their owners in the UK.

Stoneleigh Park thinks pink for Cancer Research
- Venue on course to smash £750,000 fundraising target
- Impressive 493 runners already signed up already

Stoneleigh Park is aiming to reach a landmark £750,000 for cancer research as it welcomes 5,000 women dressed in pink fancy dress for its fourth consecutive Race For Life charity run on 24 June 2012.

Warwickshire based Stoneleigh Park has been a long-time supporter of the popular charity run offering pro-bono support to Cancer Research since it chose to move the event from Coventry’s War Memorial Park in 2009.

In the four years since it began at the 800-acre-site, nearly 12,000 fundraisers have run, walked, skipped, and danced an impressive 182,465 miles and raised more than half a million pounds for Cancer Research.

The £750,000 raised at Stoneleigh Park will go towards researching children's cancer with the hope that this will lead to improved treatment - ensuring more children survive in the future.

Stoneleigh Park chief executive Ian Pegler said: “The Race for Life is a highlight of our sporting event calendar and we are extremely proud to support such a worthy cause that receives no government funding, and so relies on fundraising and donations from people across the Midlands.

“Having supported this event for four years, we’re looking forward to seeing so many people turnout for it again. Every year friends and families come together for just a few hours to celebrate the lives of people they have lost or those who are still bravely battling cancer, and the sense of camaraderie is second-to-none.”

Race For Life event manager, Victoria Miekle added: “This event at Stoneleigh Park is the biggest in the area, and is always a guaranteed success. This year though we need as many females as possible to take part, the Race for Life is not about being fast, it’s a celebration of sisterhood and hope - most women are able to walk 5k in an hour while chatting and having fun.”

STONELEIGH PARK CEO EXTENDS HIS CONTRACT TO COMPLETE THE BUSINESS TURNAROUND

Stoneleigh Park’s CEO, Ian Pegler, has this week signed a contract to stay with the business for a further 12 months, as he looks to build on nine successful months in charge and cement his strategic growth plans for the business.

The former Little Chef chief executive aims to complete the turnaround of the business which has seen significant growth in the number of events staged at the major exhibition and conference venue in the last 12 months alone.

In the first nine months of Ian’s appointment, Stoneleigh Park turned a first quarter loss into a profit, with sales up 20 per cent and annual profits up nearly 10 times the previous year.

Ian said: “It’s been a successful year for Stoneleigh Park, both in terms of the way the business has been transformed and the speed with which it has been done. This success is testament to the hugely dedicated and talented team we have in place and their ability to exceed customer expectations.

“I’m delighted that the Board decided to extend my contract, so that together with the team, we can capitalise on both the strong sales and profit gains we’ve made and the successful changes we’ve implemented across the business.

“Our growth plans for the remainder of 2012, will focus on continuing to improve the venue’s facilities so we can further diversify into new markets and sectors.

“Since I joined the business, there has been substantial investment in people, with the expansion of the marketing and sales functions. We hope that this will continue. We are also placing a strong emphasis on creating more strategic alliances in order to speed up the business growth.”

Stoneleigh Park Marketing Team Gets Boost with Two New Executives

Major events and conference venue Stoneleigh Park has appointed two new executives to join its expanding marketing team.

Jennie Gentles and Charlotte Bird both take on the role of Marketing Executive to promote the venue and work across a diverse range of events at Warwickshire based Stoneleigh Park.

With more than 15 years’ experience, Jennie will be responsible for marketing the conferences, music and art festivals, weddings and private parties at Stoneleigh Park. She joins from Europe’s leading arts centre, The Drum, where she worked as Communications Manager and was responsible for overseeing the Birmingham venue’s communications strategy.

Charlotte joins Stoneleigh Park having worked in the marketing and events sector for more than 6 years. She previously worked as an Events Manager at the Royal National Lifeboat Institution in Solihull where she was responsible for generating revenue through fundraising events. She will be responsible for exhibitions, outdoor and sporting events, social media channels and festive parties.

TRIO OF MOTORING EVENTS AT STONELEIGH PARK

STONELEIGH PARK REVS-UP FOR TRIO OF MAJOR MOTOR EVENTS

Stoneleigh Park is gearing up to host three of the UK’s most popular vintage and classic car shows, and welcome the biggest names in the motorsport and celebrity world.

The International MG Show, Race Retro and The International Triumph Show, which celebrate the best of classic cars and motorcycles, take place in February and March at the 800 acre site in Warwickshire. The trio of motoring festivals signals a bumper year for Stoneleigh Park, which already boasts a packed events schedule for 2012.

The International MG Show (www.mg-show.co.uk) kicks off the series of motoring events on 19 February. From Midgets, Roadsters, Spirits to Sports models, visitors will be in their element at the one day MG extravaganza which features displays from the UK’s most dedicated motoring clubs, and showcases rare and stunning examples of MG models through the ages.

Race Retro, Europe’s premier historic motor show (www.raceretro.com) on 24 to 26 February brings together rare and legendary racing cars with rally car demonstrations, and an auction featuring an original Ayrton Senna helmet and racing suit. Visitors will see Radio 2 DJ Chris Evan’s and motorsport legend Sir Stirling Moss’ iconic cars, as well as pop singer, Jay Kay, lead singer of Jamiroquoi, who will be driving his Porsche 914-6.

STONELEIGH PARK VISITOR NUMBERS ROCKET AT INTERNATIONAL DIRT BIKE SHOW

The recent 2011 International Dirt Bike Show at Stoneleigh Park in Warwickshire was one of the most successful and best-attended dedicated off-road shows ever.

Over 22,000 enthusiasts crammed into the event over a four-day period - a 28 per cent increase on visitor numbers in 2010.

The combination of international and UK visitors and celebrities from a variety of sporting disciplines, coupled with product and team launches, vibrant exhibitor stands and constant on-stage entertainment all added to the family carnival atmosphere. In terms of physical size, it was the largest Dirt Bike Show to be held at major events and conferencing venue, Stoneleigh Park.

Ian Pegler, chief executive for Stoneleigh Park, said: “The overwhelming success of this year’s show underlines the growing popularity of dirt bikes and how much our venue is tailor-made to stage an event of this calibre and on this scale. Few venues in the UK can cater for the 4 X 4 tracks, ‘try-a-bike’ arenas, simulators and other unique facilities which go into making it such a huge success.”

Reflecting on the 2011 event, show organiser Joanne Watson said; “We could tell from the vibes that the visitor attendance figures were going to improve for this year, but it wasn’t until we received the final statistics that we found out by just how much.

“The support from all our exhibitors has been tremendous and we’ll be working hard to put on an even better International Dirt Bike Show in 2012.”

Your Horse Live 2011 - Hits New Highs

YOUR Horse Live - the ‘must visit’ event of the year hit new highs in 2011 with increased visitors, more exhibitors and demonstrations that led to packed stands.

With visitors flocking to Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire, from first thing in the morning, this year’s Your Horse Live was one of the best ever.

Advanced ticket sales were up for the third year in a row with thousands of horse lovers from all over the country gathering for this winter equestrian extravaganza.

Top names provided exciting and enlightening demonstrations and included dressage star Laura Bechtolsheimer discussing how to improve a horse’s way of going with riders Jade Vale and Katherine Boyd as well as helping young dressage star of the future Charlotte Ward.

Event rider Oliver Townend and show jumper Geoff Billington shared their training secrets with plenty of laughs along the way, their fun-filled partnership now well established and proving a real crowd pleaser.

A dressage to music master class was provided by Anna Ross-Davies and Roland Tong while the rollercoaster ride that is Rockin’ Horse saw the incredible stunt team put on a heart-stopping performance.

Visitor Jo Blyth said: “Your Horse Live was just brilliant, we come every year and it just gets better and better.”

Debbie Harris of HorseHage said: “The stand was packed both days and there was so much interest shown in the product range it really is an excellent event.”

In the Dodson and Horrell Arena a wide range of demonstrations and displays included Jason Webb and Charlie Unwin explaining how to start a horse and understanding what goes through both horse and human’s minds.

While the team at the Thoroughbred Rehabilitation Centre provided a host of information on how the organisation helps ex-racehorses turn to a new discipline including eventing.

Michael Bacon of TopSpec said: “We were incredibly busy with the stand bursting with visitors and we had so much interest in our competition to win a weekend break to London and tickets to War Horse, it was brilliant.”

Trainer Claire Lilley showcased how to lunge and long-rein safely and effectively while Sylvia Loch explained how the principles of classical riding can benefit any horse and rider, from Novice to Grand Prix.

At Allbed Sally Leech said: “We were delighted with sales, orders and interest, the stand was busy as soon as the event opened.

Leading show judge and rider, Lucy Killingbeck provided a fascinating insight into how to catch the judge’s eye and improve your results in the show ring.

Before Carol Mailer provided fool proof show jumping exercises to try at home, to improve accuracy, timing and balance and Lee Rutter gave an insight into Western riding to delight the audience.

Rachel Griffiths of Boss Horseboxes said: “We were exceptionally busy throughout the two days and very pleased with the interest shown.”

Laura Aitken of Parelli Natural Horsemanship added: “There has been a good flow of visitors to the stand over the two days and we were able to promote our 2011 Parelli Celebration DVD, a great present for Christmas. We were also delighted with the number of new people we signed up for the Savvy Club.”

The Breeds Village is always a ‘must visit’ area of Your Horse Live and with an array of rare breeds, this year proved once again how popular these wonderful animals are.

Ian Pegler, chief executive for Stoneleigh Park, said: “The success of this year’s show has been overwhelming and underlines why we’re proud to host the biggest dedicated equestrian shopping event of the year.

Without doubt Your Horse Live 2011 was an event not to be missed.

Wendy McCaughan of Kan Teq summed it up: “It was a thumping good two days, just wonderful.”
