Record attendance figures for Motorcycle Trade Expo (Stoneleigh Park, 16-18 January) are to be verified by the Audit Bureau of Circulations.
Expo, a motorcycle, scooter and ATV aftermarket business to business show, enjoyed a big rise in attendance figures right across the board at the first major event of the year at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry.
Organiser Mark Mayo reported more trade people than ever, with visitors – and the number of companies they represented – up significantly over each day compared to 2004.
Mark said: “ABC’s stamp of authority will put beyond doubt the show’s importance to the motorcycle aftermarket. Audited attendance figures also mean that exhibiting companies are provided with information they can trust to be accurate - not that Expo’s figures have ever been anything other than factual.”
The total number of companies was 2,144 (up 16.6% on 2004) and the total number of visitors saw an even larger increase of 17.5%, up to 4,756. On Sunday the number of companies shot up by 21% to 950, and visitors went up 27% to 2379 from last year’s 1877.
Mark puts the success of this year’s event down to a bigger promotions budget and the fact that with nearly 200 exhibitors (20% more than the previous year) there was more to see for show visitors).
Stoneleigh Park Sales Manager Judith Day said: “The event was very well attended, had a good atmosphere and fabulous looking stands.”
