A number of the UK’s top speedway stars will be appearing at the Midlands Big Bike Show at Stoneleigh Park, Coventry on 7 – 8 May.
Visitors will be able to meet top riders from the sport’s Elite League including Team Great Britain skipper and Coventry Bees rider, Scott Nicholls and fellow teammate – an exciting new talent in the sport – Chris Harris. Aficionados will have no trouble recognizing the names of Oxford’s Greg Hancock or Wolverhampton’s Mikael Max and David Howe – the forthcoming season could well see Howe bidding for international recognition. Also calling in are Swedish star, Peter Karlsson and his Peterborough Panther teammate, Californian, Sam Ermolenko.
It’ll be an opportunity to meet the greats in the sport – there’s a suggestion that other top names will appear unexpectedly – chatting and getting signed autographs. And with a chance to sit on the bike Jason Crump rode to take the World Champion title, visitors to the British Speedway stand should remember to bring a camera.
It’s great news for visitors as it adds another dimension to the event. Show organizers, Bikeshows Europe, are delighted as it’s a first for the region to have speedway officially included in a biking event of this magnitude. Events director, Howard Cartledge, says:
“The appearance of top speedway celebrities is a real attraction. The Midlands Big Bike Show is going to be an exciting day out with displays of custom, performance and touring bikes. We’ve got top-flight stunt shows and major manufacturing names already signed up. There’s going to be something for every biking fanatic in the Midlands. I just urge everyone to come along and have a look.”
